http proxy enable problem

the problem is, that i simply can't enable the http proxy, i got an "unable to complete.." message every time. this one is new for me, i had no problems when i installed 7.000 but i turned it off after a try. here are same lines from the http deamon log, i hope it helps to find an answer:

yes, but it's greyed out. i talked to friend today, who has the opposite of my problem, he can't turn the proxy off. maybe we live too close to eachother and this problem is realy local..[:)]

If Version 7.001 you have Licences for the PROXY services ?

made a new home licence, with my old one it was disabled, but it's enabled in the new

I also can't use the http proxy, stays red, and i am a power user, with an http licence. still not worked out a fix yet

no it is a v7 licence, however i restored it from backup. I will try importing a new fresh one from my.astaro. cheers for the idea

reinstalled v7 power licence
still can't access http proxy. backend errors.

Mike,
1/. have you tried to enable the http proxy without your licence?
2/. have installed v7.001, it fixed a lot of backend problems.
3/. do you have configuration from the beta trial you could restore from (probably too late as the licence has expired). You could trick the machine by putting a Jan 07 date in the bios for testing purposes.

I had the same problem but i just applied the new up to date ver 7.002 and it is all find now you should do the same

But now i have a problem where the proxy is is so slow that i have to turn it off to surf any ideas on how to speed it up . I am running 733mhz with 1.2 gig of ram i ma not seeing a lot of cpu or ram usage when the proxy is enabled. It is just slow to get pages

I was wondering that myself, but then realised that the http proxy with virus scanning etc does a lot of checking over the internet, so if you have a slow link or it has a high occupancy then the proxy will appear to be slow.

The cpu load is very small, so I came to the conclusion that it is a internet connections. Try running the proxy without the virus scanning etc and see if that improves the throughput.

It seems that the antivirus was the problem onecr i disabled it things worked better thanks again. I will now look in to what the antivirus is doing.

Hi RFCat_vk

Found the issue, it was my old backup file from 7.000.
I rebuilt 7.000 from scratch, put all my info in manually, updated to 7.001, all still worked, Created a new backup, rebuilt the 7.000, restored from the new backup, all working great.

So in conclusion I think my 7.000 backup was duff.
