Yum, Up2date and WUS Services not working behind HTTP transparent proxy

Yum, Up2date and Windows Update Server Services don't work when we use the HTTP proxy in transparent mode.

Yum and Up2date are used every day on our servers and we also have a central windows update server for the xp workstations.

Since the HTTP proxy has been implemented, these three services fail. Un fortunately, we have to use the transparent HTTP proxy so I need to find a workaround to have those three services work again.

    We are running the http proxy in transparent mode, and both Windows Update and Yum work just fine here.  Our only customization is that we have added the Microsoft update servers to the skip source/destination network list in the http proxy.

     No, that is not practical, since there are hundreds of them.

    Just create a new network definition entry with
    Type: DNS hostname (multiple records) and
    Address: download.windowsupdate.com
    The list will quickly fill itself in.

    Be aware that some of those multiple DNS Hostname Lists can get quite large with hundreds of IP Adresses. You may take a big Performance Hit on your Astaro (not on the first Day of course...).

    I had "liveupdate.symantec.com" as a multiple DNS Hostname in a Packetfilter Rule and after a few month the IP-Adress List grew so large that the CPU-Load was constantly above 2 and a Reboot took nearly 45 minutes [:O] !

    After redefining the "liveupdate" to a few fixed Hosts it went smooth again...

    Currently I have the following definition.
    List accumulated over the last 2 years from others post.
    I think it works fine download OS Patches but does not seems to get the MS Office Patches which the new Microsoft Update should.
