What's going on with all the uncategorized sites I seem to be getting more and more everyday! Beginning to wonder if cobian check anything at all at the moment.
Are you sure that the Astaro automatically submits uncategorized sites to Cobion for categorization? I just checked a couple of customer sites (which I know we've accessed via the Astaro in the past few months) against the Cobion submit-a-site link, and they still show up uncategorized. Where is this behaviour documented (It'd be great for Astaro, and Cobion, for that matter, if it did this, just don't see any evidence of it being done automatically).

The request is logged by the Cobion (ISS) servers, so yes, you could say that Astaro "sends" the information to the servers.
Don't know what the update cycle is now, but it was around every 8 hours in the past.
Uncategorized sites message will also get triggered, if the servers are not "very good" reachable. If that gets worse, just call your partner, or Astaro support, they will give you a howto to change the server list.
Does anyone know how often Astaro pulls an updated database from Cobion? I submitted for a site for categorization and it was approved. If I do the online check at cobion (and the Astaro URL-check page also), the site shows up under it's new category. My users are still accessing that site even though that category is blocked on my Astaro box. Leads me to assume that my Astaro is using a pre-change copy of the database.

Astaro and Cobion are hosting more than 20 database servers worldwide and every ASG V6 will query all of them, sort them by fastest response time and use the fastest five.
Every URL that is not yet known in the database will be sent to the datacente r of cobion where arround 1000 servers crawl and categorize the whole domain.
It currently takes arround 48 hours to crawl a site, analyze it and integrate it into updates. The database servers get updated arround two times a day.
The whole process works fully automatic if the website holds enough content to be properly categorized and it matches one of the 62 categories.
If there is not enough content or an other issue occures, a manual categorization is appended which could take a little bit longer.
There also certain rare cases where a website will not be categorized.
