HTTP-Proxy on Port 80?

Hi,

I have to replace a HTTP-Proxy running on MS-ISA-Server by an Astaro machine. Problem is, that the ISA runs on Port 80 and I can't change the Proxy settings at the client machines "on on the fly".

So I need to run Astaro's HTTP proxy on Port 80.

But in the HTTP-Proxy Configuration page I cannot configure a proxy-port below 1024.

Anyone any Ideas???

Thanks in advance
Thilo

  • I've just tested the configuration with activated transparent proxy.
I configured my system to use the firewall's transparent proxy and it works.

You have to enable the transparent proxy in ASG. Following that, you can configure the proxy settings like this:

    Proxy IP: 192.168.x.x (ASG's IP)  Port:80
  • Just change the client settings to use port 8080? seams the easiest way. I you are in a domain environment, just use group policy. That is "on the fly"
  • Yup, just implement / change a GPO to automatically set IE to point to the right IP / Port number.  Users with Firefox, etc. will need to be changed manually.  I'm not a big fan of "Transparent Mode" (for various reasons), so this is how we do most customer implementations.
