Mac Os X software Updates fail

The school that i work at just installed a new astaro Firewall. We were able to run our software upodates fine before the firewall was put into place. Since then we run software update and it finds the updates. When we try to install them it sends us an fail error.

How do I fix the problem so that our many Macintosh computers can run updates?

    We were able to do this as follows:


    The Software Update looks to
    swquery.apple.com - 17.250.248.93
    swscan.apple.com - 17.250.248.93 .... for the list of what to download.
    swdownload.apple.com - 17.250.248.91 ... another site, but it was not used during my test machine - found it while snooping at dnsstuff.com

    As it starts to download it uses
    a208-38-45-134.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com
    a208-38-45-174.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com
    a208-38-45-176.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com  ... for the downloads themselves.  I could not get the Astaro to resolve a network multi host dns definition for deploy.akamaitechnologies.com, so I added them individually.  I then created a network group with the whole mess included. That network group definition was then added to the proxy settings to not cache anything coming from there.

    There could very well be other addresses that it uses to download, but this at least worked when I tried it on a second machine.  The first machine I used to discover all this was set to go through an IPcop box where I could then follow the exact traffic with IFTOP. I would not be surprised to see these hosts change from day to day / hour to hour as akamai delivers the content for Apple. I am not sure of how their system works - do they have statically assigned IP's to deliver specific content, or do their IP host addresses change dynamically. ?????  But it worked once for me ... at least that is a start.

    This works for some of our updates but not all...i would greatly appreciat it if anyone has more info on the subject to please help...i plan on getting my boss to call our security advisor for help...but would like to find out what to do asap...we need to run updates

    try adding deploy.akamaitechnologies.com to the trusted domain list
