Packet Rule Question...

All,

I need to set up a packet filter rule that will allow port 80 traffic to my 3 Windows OneCare PC's. OneCare calls out via port 443 and updates are downloaded via port 80.

I would assume that I need to put these 3 PC's in a group and allow port 80 traffic from MS? Is this correct? If so, can someone please post a simple configuration for me to use as a guide? I am kind of a rookie at this!

    Not exactly sure what you're asking?

    Are you using proxy? Transparent?

    Are you trying to allow port 80 into these machines? or Do you need access out from these machines without going through a proxy?

    If you didn't know the Proxy always responds before packet filter rules.

    I would like to use the proxy - transparent - yes.

    I need to allow port 80 traffic to these three machines - yes.

    So - do I need to "whitelist" in the proxy? I have had problems getting this stuff to work and I apprecaite your help!!!

    Ok,

    Turning the proxy on and picking transparent mode will get your machines web access to the Internet.

    Don't forget to create a MASQ NAT rule if you need any other port to go out to the internet from those machines.  i.e. HTTPS, DNS, ...

    You will also need to create a Packet filter rule that allows the ports out as well.  Since you are using proxy you don't have to create a rule for HTTP.

    The harder part is getting port 80 traffice coming IN from the internet to 3 different machines.  One thing to make it simple is if you have 3 public IP addresses.  Do you have 3 public IP's or just 1?

    I have connectivity now - no problem - MASK NAT "inside" to "any".

    I have one Public IP and the machines are natted behind it.

    To get the HTTP proxy to work with HTTPS you need to be in "standard" mode.
