Other protocolls over http proxy

hi everyone

i have a little question:

Is it possible to add some custom ports/services to the allowed services in the http proxy? and this will work?

in transparent or standart mode. is it possible to have no rule, in packet filter wich allows traffic to one port, but add this in the proxy an this connection will work? when its not http, some audio stream or something else?

what is about https? can https go trough the proxy? in transparent mode or just in standart or auth mode?

    You can add custom ports by first adding these ports to services. Then add the services to the HTTP Proxy in the Allow Services Section. The proxy has to be in Standard Mode to allow those services over HTTP Proxy. To answer your question, yes HTTPS can be used through HTTP Proxy, and no you do not need a packet filter rule. But the proxy needs to be in Standard mode and your browser needs to be set to use the proxy.

    Ok, ive testet this last night. i was able to setup the proxy in internet settings of windows and listen to a audio stream with windows media player on port 8000.

    question is, and something that i have to test out is, what other clients like winamp or other programms do. is this internet setting in windows real a global parameter or just some M$ programms us this settings???

    ok i saw, that its possible to add an proxy in winamp. i've to test other apps with the proxy.

    whats about ftp? any practise? heard that this won't run very fine.
