Ok, I have a setup at home where i'm using proxies for smtp, pop3, dns, http, https, & ftp.
All of them work perfectly except the damn ftp. it doesn't work at all.
From what I've read, i assumed that i needed to have the ftp proxy set up in much the same way as the https proxy.
I have no ports open in my filter & everythings great except this annoying little protocol. I don't want to open 21, i might as well put a red light up next to my ip address to do that!
What am i doing wrong whereby the http proxy works wonderfully with all http & https traffic?
If i try to browse to ftp://anything.anywhere i see dropped packets in my packet filter log?! but i told IE to use same proxy for all protocols?
If i use wsftple & set specific proxy details, i see nothing in packet filter (that's good coz it went to proxy instead), but a few moments later i see the reply from the ftp sites come in & be denied. Why does the proxy not realise that this is the reply to the connection it established a moment ago?
I must be doing something really dumb somewhere along the lines here but i can't figure it out.
I'm running 6.103 atm with http proxy set in standard mode. i've tried turning the connection helpers on & off, no difference either way.
any help would be greatly appreciated!
