[6.100] Help to configure needed!!

How should I configure my ASL to get it to work with the following instructions?


"""Automatic Update

When you start GFFinder2.exe an automatic update    procedure starts. This procedure starts by downloading a file from www.genline.se called latest_version.txt. (If the download fails the error message "No internet connection found..." will be displayed.)

This file is compared to the local copy of latest_version.txt. If the files contain different version numbers or the local file does not exist all files associated with the latest version will be downloaded.

The files that are downloaded are engine.exe, some dll’s, and a few other things. Then, engine.exe is started and it takes over the execution. The login dialog appears and you can start working with GFF2.

If for any reason you want to download the latest version again, just remove the file latest_version.txt.

If you want to download a different version than the latest official release you will need to start GFFinder2.exe with a parameter. latest_version.txt will not be downloaded and if you entered beta as the parameter beta.txt would be downloaded. Beta.txt usually contains a different version number than latest_version.txt so you will download a different version of the engine.exe and dll files.



Proxy Servers

The traffic from GFFinder2.exe goes to www.genline.se through port 80 and uses simple HTTP GET commands. The traffic from engine.exe goes to gserver3.genline.se and ipar.genline.se through port 443 and is SSL-encrypted.

To run GFF2 with a proxy server open the file proxy.conf and type in the following:

proxy=Address or IP to your HTTPS Proxy server 
port=Port number to your HTTPS Proxy server 
httpproxy=Address or IP to your HTTP Proxy server 
httpport=Port number to your HTTP Proxy server

To run engine.exe through a HTTPS Proxy server you have to have version 2.1 or later."""

I´ve tried "everything" for a couple of month but I cant get it to work, so please help me with a solution.

    Hi,

    This GFF2 program should download a couple of files from a server and then start up automaticly. You can download a demo from www.genline.com and try to get it to work, no files are on your computer after an uninstall of the program.

    I´ve tried everything. I have closed down all proxy, antivirus, IPS, and everything else, and in packet filter rules I´ve created a rule with any/any/any. Nothing works.

    Is it possible to "hack" ASL (with WinSCP) to create a "free" (with no actions) passage to a few IP adresses? 

    Can someone from Astaro give a hint how to fix this problem? Is this a known problem?

    If you're not using the HTTP proxy, have rules for HTTP and HTTPS (and DNS if you're not using the DNS proxy), and can browse OK from the machine where you are running this software (three big ifs), it's not as simple as their instructions are making it out to be ("...uses simple HTTP GET commands..."). It's time to go back to the manufacturer and say wuzzup and what's actually needed...
