I have an interesting issue. We use proxy authentication via Active Directory. All works well until one day... The school decides to use a web based service that requires the users to login with a different user name than the one they use for windows. After working on the new web page service, the user can either close the browser or type in a new URL, say... www.cnn.com. In either case the workstation seems to have lost the windows user name and password and has retained the auth credentials from the on-line service. With that said, now Astaro fails the auth against AD and prompts the user for their credentials and the user has to type
domain\user
password
Not such a big deal to us techs but to the School teachers, administrative support staff and guidance counselors, this is a big deal and a major support issue for us.
We have contacted the web based service for a feature request to use session based auth instead of basic - this way the user ID and password would be part of a web paged and not a separate prompt (BASIC). They replied with - this is not a broken component of our system (although admited that the Basic prompt was old) and will be added to the pool of requests. This could take months and with school opening around the corner, I was hoping to get some feed back here.
Our ASL is v.5206
Our AD is win2k
Any ideas would be helpful.
