Do not virus scan images

Hey all

I'm running ASL 6.002, and while there is an option to skip virus scanning of images (gif, jpg), I need to expand that list to other image formats.

So all I need to do is skip virus scanning on TIF and EPS files but I really don't know how to do it. Is there a way to do this?

    don't remeber any TIFF or EPS "virus".

    Maybe these users access a lot of TIF/EPS-files?

    As long as there are no virii/exploits known in these files, it really doesn't make much sense to scan them.

    But scanning JPG-, PNG-, BMP-, WMF- and EMF-files does make sense... (for Windows-Clients)

    Yep, this is one of the reasons why I want the virus scanning to skip these files. We're a publishing company, so there are a lot of TIF and EPS files getting downloaded, and there's an issue with the MacOS 9 guys and the ASL scanning system, so I need it to not scan these file types.

    So anyone know how to make the scanning skip certain file types?

    Hi Matt,

    Do you mean the Virus scanning or the Download Progress Bar? You will get the Progress Bar even if Virusscannig is off for Images (if they are >1MB). 

    You don´t get the Progress Bar if you turn off Virusscanning completely or if you enter the Downloadhost in the "Content Filter Whitelist Domains" (IIRC).

    Yep, I meant the progress bar (I thought it and the virus scanning where one in the same). 

    Hmm, so it has to stay. Ah well, I'll have to figure out why the Mac's don't like it then.
