[6.001] Some site very slow through proxy.

Sorry Simon, I am running v6.001 and have both spyware and antivirus running and those sites come up fine. I run my proxy in standard mode. But then again I only have about 4 computers behind my box.

On my machine the sites are also very fast. Maybe a DNS related problem? Are the Forwarders in the DNS proxy fast enough? Have you tried to clean up the proxy cache?

Sorry, re-opened.  It's definately an Astaro HTTP proxy issue.

In IE.. If I set it to manually use the Astaro HTTP proxy, some sites, (www.whirlpool.net.au for example) are VERY slow to load, or fail to completely load.

If I clear the proxy from IE, then reload the page, it loads almost instantly.  I can replicate this easily.
Have contacted Astaro support.

Simon, do you think it's related to the http proxy cache? What happens, if you disable the proxy cache at all? Just for testing.

Disabling cache makes no difference.

I've tried with everything turned off except the proxy itself and still slow.

Bypassing the proxy results in almost instant page load.

Tried with IDS/IPS off too..

Note the time in seconds.

Without the proxy, using direct access, the whole thing loads in under two seconds.

OK, the last request is very slow (46,280 seconds). But the others are fast (~0,082seconds). Anyway, the sites loads fine on my system. I think the problem is somewhere on the tcp layer. Maybe a tcpdump of the communication between website and ASL proxy can give some informations.

I have not tried regular mode on the http proxy.  I jsut setup my v4 box as v6 and am using transparent http proxy and your links come up quite quickly.  Let me know how the transparent testing goes.  If it does not work let me know and i will try to replicate your problem here..[:)]

Same issue with Transparent mode.

It really hates www.whirlpool.net.au for some reason.  It draws the left menu *fairly* quickly then dies on the right hand side.  I see a fragment of HTML at the top.

try disabling the ips.  I run the ips but i do not run the http/php/webserver based rules.

ASL Support suggest setting up another ASL box and see if it happens with that which i will do as soon as I get some hardware.

Just another idea,
have you enabled HTTP 1.1 over Proxy in your IE?

Have you tried with a non-ie browser??..just a thought.  What hardware is your setup?
