Using Proxy to resolve Internal IPs

I'd like to use the http-proxy to resolve hostnames defined only on the astaro-server, e.g. internet-user requests http://private, astaro-proxy resolves this to 10.1.1.1 - would this be possible?

Where can I define hostnames to get resolved from the proxy-service?

    it is in fact a dns-problem
    calling ">http:// works perfect.
    i tried adding the ip/name to the client's host-file - this doesn't work, the name is resolved at the proxy-server only.

    there is no internal dns.
    i tried to edit the /etc/hosts of the astaro-box, but astaro seems to undo the changes a few seconds....
    any chances to get a machine-name in there?

    one way......exclude this ip in the  clients proxy settings

    another one is using policy based routing to bypass the proxy for this destination ip

    I'm using 7.x and I can edit the hosts file and it stays just fine - and I can ping the host name from the Astaro box and it resolves to the internal IP address as it should.  However, the proxy doesn't seem to use it!  I even restarted the HTTP proxy thinking maybe it was cached but that didn't do it.  I might try restarting the entire Astaro box to see if that does anything.

    I actually just stumbled upon that a few minutes ago - that seems to work, but is bringing up another problem that I will post a new thread for [[:)]]

    P.S. - editing this - the new "problem" went away.  Sometimes I think I'm too impatient [[:)]]
