HTTPS & proxy in Transparent Mode

Is there a reason why HTTPS does not work through the proxy when using transparent mode? I have to create a packet filter rule in order for the users to browse secure sites.

yes the proxy can only process http when in transparent mode. This is by design of squid(which is proxy package used in Astaro.)

it'll be a man in the middle attack if it could. it's due to the https design and of course the squid implementation.

https is encrypted traffic. So it is not possible to read that traffic for others. HTTP-Proxy is also one of the others.
To use https in transparent mode there are some special functionalities needed which are not implemented in Astaro yet.
