Windows update and Hotmail don't work!

Still a couple of problems that I don't seem to be able to fix or locate in the forum...hotmail - can't access it and Windows update also doesn't work.  I know there is a problem with squid and hotmail but am not sure how to fix this with astaro, possibly this is the same problem with windows update?
Astaro 5.2
MASQ internal(network) to external(address)
HTTP Proxy (Transparent) - not sure how this needs to be configured on the workstations for transparent proxy...currently they are set with no gateway and the proxy settings are configured with the browser options.

Any help will be much appreciated!!!

    in transparent mode the proxy only caches http.  https mustt be allowed in the packet filter.  Make sure you have an https allow rule for your internal workstations.

    And check if your proxy settings are not set to paranoid. I had this problem also a while ago.

    My anonymity is already set to none so I will try the https packet filter and see if that makes a difference...

    https packet filter to allow made no difference, astaro support emailed back saying there test worked so I better talk to my local support which by the way sucks cause then I tell them the problem and then they tell astaro and then astaro gets back to them and then they get in touch with me...you get the idea!!!

    turn the http proxy off totally and try again.  If you still have issue it is not hte Astaro box but something in your IE settings.

    Works fine through the other gateway (Cisco router).  So definitely something to do with Astaro, from what everyone is saying our site is the only site that can't access hotmail and windows update through Astaro...hard to believe but seems to be the case maybe some screen dumps to show our settings?

    i am having the same issues also. Using Proxy, and doing everything in Microsofts KB article:

     MS KB Article 

    guess i will just bash my head against my desk some more

    op mode = AD
    anon = none
    allowed networks = any
    Whitelist domains:
    microsoft.com
    windowsupdate.com
    passport.net

    URL whitelist:
    windowsupdate\.com
    windowsupdate\.microsoft\.com
    v4\.windowsupdate.microsoft\.com

    so anyways, i just put it on transparent mode for http and no problems now. Some proxy issue i didn't feel like dealing with although reports by user (AD auth) got the boss all excited. Oh well. The proxy was killing me using XM Radio too IE and FF. All better now. trade offs and really less of a headache in the end with a 1 size fits all filter. Make the higher ups realize how much a super restrictive filter is going to piss everyone off.

    I'd like to get the answer to this.
    It appears that we need to find the correct URL to place in the content filter whitelist.

    I've been having the same trouble.  Turning off the content filter fixes the problem and I can't figure out what urls it's looking for in connection to Windows Update.  Due to the importance of this feature, this is a serious Astaro problem.  Allowing this feature should be a radio button on the content filter.

    i added the following sites to the whitelist to get Windows Update Working:

    beta.update.microsoft.com
    windowsupdate.microsoft.com
    download.windowsupdate.com

    Ok, I was on a 3  way (call of course) with my sales rep and an Astaro dude. This probelm is most likely caused by the virus scanner for the web. The same deal with XM Radio. XM and any streaming content may get screwed up with the virus scanner. (Virus scanner, Windows update still worked for me after getting in transparent mode)
