there are many differences between 1.0 and 1.1 specially caching directives! and there are many possible problems if the browser ask with 1.1 and get answers with 1.0

The caching directives are some of the 1.1 features squid supports.
As I said, it works fine. Squid is one of the most popular http proxies, and there is lots of information about it online.
Are you experiencing any problems?

squid is great! no doubt! but if you need a continuous 1.1 environment its not possible to work with a proxy that downgrades the protocol.
