Active Directory/NT Domain Membership error

I have a single server running Windows 2003 acting as a domain controller.

I have tried setting up Active Directory/NT Domain Membership in ASL but no matter what I try i keep getting the following error: Error while attempting to join the domain.

I'm sure the details i'm entering are correct but it will not work.

Any help appreciated!

    I have been having the same issue, and after reading this thread I still have not been able to get Astaro to join our Domain. 

    Configuration Breakdown:

    Astaro:
         IP 1.1.1.1
         DNS Proxy Set to 1.1.1.2 and x.x.x.x (x being ISP)

    PDC:
         IP 1.1.1.2
         DNS Servers are 1.1.1.1 and 1.1.1.2

    Each time I try to join the domain in the System >> User Authentication screen on Astaro i get the error "Error Joining Domain."

    I know the User has full Domain Admin Rights, and I tried two others just to see. I'm using the Pre-Win2k Mixed Mode on the AD Server, and using the NetBios DC Name in the User Auth tab (I tried the full name, but get error finding server then).

    Any suggestions?

    Your problem is you have your DNS settings screwed up. You have your Astaro box point to both internal and external DNS servers. DNS proxy works like a round robin, it circles through and uses the other configured dns server. You need to have your Astaro DNS Proxy set to 1.1.1.2 ONLY. Then in your PDC have you DNS Server forward to your ISP's DNS server not the Astaro box. Astaro will now be able to join the domain and your internal DNS server will forward any requests not in your zone to your ISP's DNS server.
