microsoft update

after applying sp4 it works but very slow. when you have a windows 2000 sp2 then it doesnt work. i had luck that i had sp4 on the network.

im not able to update windows xp sp2 with the newest updates. it shows the downloading updates screen but doing nothing. it hangs.

I am not able to access Sharepoint .aspx pages  with the http proxy enabled. Connection is problematic with the http proxy off as well. Is this a Sharepoint problem or an Astaro Problem?

Yes I have to exclude my sharepoint site from the proxy server in order to use it.

A further followup on the Microsoft Office 2003 update problem.

First attempt to update, via ASL 5.026 in standard proxy mode, (no content scanning/virus checking) resulted in the screen attached.
  

I kept the session open opened IE and disabled proxy, then I just got a blank screen.

Set the proxy back on in IE and this time it worked !?!?

If you have problems with windows update and use http proxy normal or trasparent mode put at "none" proxies/http/anonymity in your Astaro box.

I am also having difficulties using windows update on win 98 and windows xp sp 2.  Also having similar difficulties on several other sites, the pages just seem stall and then eventually nothing displayed.  I am using ASL 5.027, HTTP proxy standard...would love to fix this!!!

try adding microsoft.com to trusted domain list

Silly question.  Where is the trusted domain list?

I think he means the "URL Whitelist."

I am running the 5.1 update and have tried this and it does not work in my environment.

Still not working for me, even with microsoft.com in the URL trusted part.  I must conclude that this is a bug.  Astaro can we have a response please.  I need windows updating to be reliable without bringing down the proxy each time

Hi,

my Whitelist grown up to 17 entrys since v5, some in case of speed Problems.
Might be they work now after all the Up2dates...dunno.
Maybe add windowsupdate.com aswell or check the HTTP Proxy logs which sites the Client accesses.

Some Applications which run over http time out very fast, its not always a prob with ASL itself,but on the other hand its bad to add one domain each 3 days which got problems.

Maybe it would be a good idea if someone of the "officials" posts recommended whitelist entrys for critical updatesites of well known companys  like symantecliveupdate.com / windowsupdate.com / microsoft.com   ....etc.

I have added microsoft.com to the URL whitelist.  I get the scan now button in windows update but the IE crashes on 0%
