HTTP Proxy not working, DNS Proxy very slow ...

Hi,

since a few days I have to realize this problem. 
HTTP-Proxy isn't working anymore, when you want to call a website, after a while the ASL HTTP proxy answers 

"I/O error
check that your proxy entries are right"

(This error message isn't produced by the browser but by the ASL!!)

If I switch off the proxy usage in the browser, webpages are shown correctly.

If I call "nslookup" to check DNS-lookups, the answers are very slow.

Apart from that all, DynDNS isn't updated anymore...
A reboot does not fix the problem. 

Some infos of history:

I used the V4, and after about 12 months of no problem, DNS Proxy suddenly refused to work, a reboot fix the problem always for 2 days, after that I had to reboot the system again. 
So, I took the CD of V5 and updated the system but now the HTTP-Proxy isn't working after 2 days, and a reboot doesn't fix it...and DNS is so slow...
The logs & reports don't show a good info, IMHO...

AARGGGHHHHHHH!!!! ;-(((

System: Astaro Security Linux V5.022
AMD K6-450, 450 MHz
196 MB RAM
8 GB HD IDE
Intel EtherExpress NIC PCI (external --> eth1)
Netgear NIC PCI (internal --> eth0)

    That AMD k6-2 is your problem.  The k6-2 450 has the computing power of a celeron 300 if that(many many benchmarks showed the k6-2 series was a slow processor) so it is not surprising you had issues in v4..and v5 is much more demanding.  I am running a p-2 350 here and that is the ragged edge..many issues i see i test test test first to make sure it is not my hardware causing the issue.  You really need a p-2 350(bare minimum) and no less than 256 megs of ram for a home setup(less than 10 machines max)...upgrading your hardware will solve many of your ills.

    If you do not have access to better hardware i suggest something like smoothwall or ipcop which are much leaner firewall(they do not have a/v scanner and such by default but have a very vibrant mods community).  ASL is killing that poor k6-2..
