I was so happy to see the option of parent proxy in the HTTP settings through webadmin, as it is must for me coz my ISP doesnt provide transparent proxying. So all this time i was working with a hack as discussed in this thread

but after making those changes HTTPS sites were not working i reported this to astaro, couldnt solve the issue. I am not a linux power user but i had to go through the squid guides i found the entry mentioned in this thread stating as never_direct allow any, actually should be
never_direct allow all.
as "all" is by default the name of the ACL in ASL so after making these changes every thing was working fine till 5.017.
now that i have updated to 5.018, i have got the same problem back that HTTPS pages arent working, so is my MSN messenger and the other problem of I/O timeout as well.
but this timewith 5.018 i saw the squid.conf -default is complete changed, as previosly the cache_peer option was used for content filtering, and now things are improved that we can have cahing , content filtering as well as parent proxy, so the squid.conf file this time is very much complecated for me, so please help me out [:S]
