How to enable Virusprot for WEB ?

HI,
Just get my license for virusprotection for web.

How to enable this functionality?
Just to load license or something else ?

How can I test it?
Is there a site where I can try to download
a harmless virus. Just to see what happens?

    upload the license file under System/Licensing. Enable the HTTP proxy and turn on the content filter. For testing you could use the default profile with 'Any' as 'assigned network block'. The virus protection can be turned on by clicking on the small symbol on the very right side of the default profile, it is marked with VP. I really don't understand why Astaro is hiding such an enterprise feature behind this small switch - but anyway.

    Configure your browser to use ASL as proxy in case you are running the proxy in standard mode. If you want to run it in transparent mode it has to be ensured that your client machine uses the firewall as its gateway to the internet.

    For testing you could go to http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm

    Hi, I set it up like your suggestion:
    OperationMode: Transparent
    Enable Surf Protectiion
    Profiles: VP shows green light in Default
    Profile Assignment:
      Name: Default   LED: green Assigned Netw.Blocks is Any

    Astaro V5.016 is my Defaultgateway


    I visited the eicar website:
    - I can see it in my browser
    - Download of eicar.com file  was succesful

    What's wrong ???

    Hi,

    since 1 month we licensed VirusSurfProtection.
    It's not working. And NOBODY is able to support !!!

    I search for appropriate Installation Manuals
    NOTHING

    Seems that this feature is treated by astaro as a stepchild.

    But astaro is invoicing a lot of money for that feature.

    First time I'm really disappointed by the product

    Hi sFischer,

    I bought Virus Protection for Web and we cannot use it because it has too many problems and errors.

    Only answer from ASL is "Add Site xy to the whitelist". If I add a webmailer to the whitelist I can also turn off SurfProtection because this is where most viruses come from..... 

    I'm not very happy about that!

    before this thread explodes to another "HTTP proxy is not working at all" thread, 
    lets try to figure out what is wrong.
    Virus Protection for Web is working very well, we have multiple sites from big to small where it works.

    sfischer, if you purchased a license, please contact the astaro support team, they will help you with your problem.
    The forum is NOT the official Astaro Support, this is platform for astaro interested people to share their thoughts.

    So lets to get the facts.

    Which version of ASL are you running?

    What is your configuration?

    can you verify in the HTTP_access log that your client is actually surfing through the proxy?

    can you verify in the contentfilter log that you request/response, gets handled?

    this could be the source of error, it isn't turned on it has to be enabled, maybe the icon is somehow confusing.
