hotmail and clients dont work with https enabled.

I get the following error using Outlook Express with Hotmail.

Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server.  Account: 'Hotmail', Server: 'services.msn.com/.../httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Not Implemented', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC3E


I also get the same error using Outlook 2003, and the MSN 9.0 client accessing Hotmail.

http://www.hotmail.com works fine, but I would like to use the clients like I can with https proxy turned off, however, I would like to use the https proxy so I can use the features I paid for.

    hotmail has not been supporting remote clients for weeks now..no reason given.  I have been getting htis now on oe6 and outlook so it is nothing on yoru end..MSN is not giving any reason as to why there are issues other than the outlook/oe support is experimental and may not work reliably.  The reccomended way to read hotmail is through hotmail.com..pfft.

    This is untrue.  I use it all the time from work, and without HTTP proxy enabled.  My wife and I use Outlook 2003, MSN 9 client, and sometimes I remote connect and use OE.  The only time I get these errors is when Http proxy is enabled on the Astaro box.

    I can probably do some packet captures later on but its pretty easy to reproduce.  Just create a hotmail acount, configure OE to use it, test it with HTTP off, then turn on HTTP proxy and try again, it will fail.

    ok are you proxying https?  also is the proxy in transparent mode?  If the proxy is int transparent mode then https will not work as the http proxy cannot proxy https..you ahve to open it up via a packetfilter rule.

    ok are you proxying https?  also is the proxy in transparent mode?  If the proxy is int transparent mode then https will not work as the http proxy cannot proxy https..you ahve to open it up via a packetfilter rule.
