When the HHTP proxy is enabled and a site is requested that is unreachable or does not exist, something similar to following is displayed:


The requested URL could not be retrieved

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://www.somewhere.com/ 

The following error was encountered: 

Unable to determine IP address from host name for www.somewhere.com 
The dnsserver returned: 

Name Error: The domain name does not exist. 
This means that: 

 The cache was not able to resolve the hostname presented in the URL. 
 Check if the address is correct. 
Your cache administrator is webmaster.

I have a question about the  link to "webmaster" given at the bottom of the page which is set as mailto:webmaster.
Is it possible to set this to something else or is "webmaster" definable somewhere in ASL?

    FYI This may void your "warranty" .

    This "bug" has been there since ASL 5 was released and has never been corrected.  The feeling I got from Astaro is that this is a "feature" request, and not a very important one.  Their "fix" was to perform the following:

    In /var/chroot-squid/etc/squid.conf-default,

    Find the following:
    # ADMINISTRATIVE PARAMETERS
    #
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    -----

    # TAG: cache_mgr
    # Email-address of local cache manager who will receive
    # mail if the cache dies. The default is "webmaster."
    #
    #Default:
    # cache_mgr webmaster

    Uncomment the cache_mgr and replace webmaster with admin@yourcompany.com or whatever you require.

    Good deal, thanks for the info.  It's definitely not critical, but it would be nice to have that link changed just for completeness.  I mean, if it's going to offer an email link, it's nice to have it actually go somewhere.  [:)]
