Builtin HTTP Daemon to serve a File to LAN?

Some 50 client PCs are using the DHCP server to get their network parameter configuration from an ASL v5.012 box.

Now I seek a way so that the same ASL box would also serve up a file to the Web browsers on those clients using HTTP (or FTP). This file is kind of a JavaScrpt which holds the configuration for the Web browser, e.g. parameters such as the IP address of the proxy, which proxy ports to use, etc.

To keep things simple, I am hoping to find a way to co-use the httpd which is running on ASL anyway that serves up Web pages for Surfprotection, Webadmin, etc.

One hook would be the self-reference URL  http://fw-notify.net  that is used by Surf- and Virusprotection to inform about blocked pages, downloads in progress, etc.

Any ideas where I should start looking at the root shell level? Thanks for any hints.

    like i know you can´t send a proxy configuration file to a client if this client didn´t request it. but if you´re using a windows domain you could enable iis localy and provide this file. in the active diretories gpo you can set the path to this file, so that all browsers (ie) are pointet to the script.
