Requesting help with user authentication

We are using a trial version of Astaro Security Linux v 5.0. we are currently facing some problems with user authentication. We are using a Novell eDirectory from where  to access users. The information we have provided under the system->user authentication tab contains all the details of the eDirectory LDAP server. We then went on to enable user authentication for HTTP. 
 
The login dialog box popped up was that of the browser (IE or NEtscape - we are using verions 6.2 and 7.0 respectively). But the authentication did not happen with the LDAP server.
 
Can you help us with where we are going wrong? We went through the forums for some q & a but were unable to find any one with a similar problem. We also tried the user manuals and have configured items exactly as mentioned, but of no help.
 
Your help would be greatly appreciated. Specially if some debugging steps can be mentioned

    Hi Chitra, 
    can you provide some detailed information how you configured the ASL for authentication against your eDirectory. I also would recommend to use the latest version 5.010. There were some bugfixes for LDAP authentication in the meantime. (see #43850)
