do you block the CONNECT method? the WS-FTP uses it to tunnel connections. be warned that the content filtering WILL NOT WORK with this client because it uses CONNECT instead of GET requests.
No I don not block the CONNECT method. My question is if anyone is also using WS FTP Pro what firewall type to select in the soft to make it work with ASL ??
I personally just allow ftp connections out of the internal network and don't set any proxy information in WS_FTP pro.
I've just changed my proxy mode to standard and tried forcing it to use the proxy by defining a new firewall and then setting a connection to use that firewall but i couldnt get it to work .

Indeed that's a solution but then I don't get anti-virus filtering on ftp :-((
I also tried setting a firewall in WS-FTP and couldn't get it working. My question is weither someone had found the right setting
This information comes from a customer: Proxy Server has been discontinued, although it's still popular. It has been replaced with ISA 2000 SERVER. Under this configuration, you should use the "TRANSPARENT setting". But it should be noted that when specifying the user and password, this should be the SAME as when setting up the connection (i.e. the user/password combination setup on the FTP SERVER), not the user/password used to connect to the proxy (ISA), which is often the windows logon/password. Also, the default port is 8080 on ISA (not 80), and this must be specified in the Firewall properties of WS_FTP. The remote port probably remains at 21. Finally, there is no need to change the browser connection settings, which may be tempting, to reflect a different port for FTP.
