changing and optimizing the proxy cache

...half way down shows how to change the size of the proxy cache. It is a fairly simple thing to do, but there is no webmin setting unfortunately  [:)]

The proxy settings I use are transparent, access log only, with anonymity set to none. I also have surf control off and caching on, though if you choose to enable surf control, caching will be disabled.

These settings work fine for me and a handful of users behind it, with none of us doing anything particularly strange or complex.

Nope unfortunately there is no secret way, its squid.conf editing all the way....

partition size is calculated and set during the installation and is x% of your whole harddrive. There is no way and no need to change it. If you use any content scanner component such as virus filtering caching is turned off anyway.

What about the max_object_size?
Any chance, that this will be a feature in v5?
I saw, that IPCop for example supports this...

you mena in webadmin?  they may..right ow look above i gave instructions on how to modify your squid-default.conf for whatever object size you want..[:)]

The path shown in the thread is for v4. Where lies the squid config file in v5?

unless it was moved it should be in thde same spot(at least it was when i was running v5)..when i get a bigger hdd i will be able to use v5..[:)]

it should be under..
 /var/chroot-squid/etc/squid.conf-default
squid.conf-default is the actual file you edit..log in as root then type:
joe /var/chroot-squid/etc/squid.conf-default
