Hotmail via Outlook XP issues with surf protection

and neither does MSN 9 client. When I disable surf protection it works fine, but I would like to leave it enable because other than that issue its working great for me.
I know the url that Outlook connects to is an active server page.... so not sure what to do here...
THis is the url...

Would love if I could get this working with surf protection...

You could just exclude the page from the surf protection profile as a temporary measure, which will let you access that page but not affect surf protection for oter sites.

Yes, all the current updates are installed.

I have two urls in the whitelist...
msn\.com
services.\msn\.com

Any application (Outlook, Outlook Express, MSN 9) that access the url "services.msn.com/.../httpmail.asp" will not work.

Will continue to mess with it, and if anyone has any other solutions let me know. Thanks guys!

Still haven't resolved this issue. I don't think it has to do with whitelisting the URL that hotmail accesses through these clients, I think its an issue with squid itself. I paid for Astaro thinking I would get support, but was told I have to ask questions here instead of emailing astaro's support.... [:(]

not a squid issue..at least not in terms of the squid projects coding..i have a smoothwall box at a client's office without isses as i am using squid transparently there. V5 strictly adheres to the html and http specifications..IE based programs(this includes outlook version anything and OE) do not. This had to be done among other things in order for the ICSA certification that ASL 5 achieved. There are several issues with IE based programs and v5..but they are not the fault of v5 but broken IE. Astaro i am sure are trying to find workarounds.

Ah, well my only hope was to search the web and usenet, and I had seen others using squid having issues like I was, and I had figured it was a squid issue. Well, I guess I can only hope someone takes a look at this because until it works, I pretty much just wasted my money on the virus updates and such because I can't use them.
I have used hotmail for years, my family uses it, and changing to something else isn't an option. (I actually have several accounts, but hotmail has always been my primary.)

Hi,

I had a similar Problem, A user could not access the Hotmail Mailbox with his Webbrowser until I set the Anonymity Setting in the Proxy Page to None.

hi there,
a small addition,
the global HTTP whitelist is not a regular expression, means you should specify the domain with:
astaro.de
not
astaro\.de
