5.007 Problems

Problem #1:  After updating from 5.006 to 5.007 I can now download files via HTTP,  but it appears to be acting funny.  

When the download starts I get the " The item you have requested is being downloaded and scanned.  Please wait... " screen and I can see the progress of the download.  

Depending on the size of the file/packet the download may end anywhere between 92% and 97% and a windows box will pop up asking the standard " Run Save Cancel " question.  If you save the file, you can then access it.  But the download screen never goes to 100% complete, it just sits on that screen, and I have not seen the " Scan Status " at anything other than idle. Yes, I have a license for the AV and have tried it both enabled and disabled.  Same results.

This screen appears when the AV is enabled and when it is disabled. Shouldn't it just be there when Web AV is turned on?

Problem 2:  When a requested URL could not be retrieved, that page lists " webmaster " as the cache administrator.  How do I change that value so that it points to a real e-mail address?   In 4.xx it listed the administrators e-mail there.

    #1: this is only a displaying issue and should work with most browsers/systems. the file IS getting scanned, but maybe the last screen is not displayed by the browser - instead of this he gives you the 'save as' dialog... we'll see if we can tweak this [:)]

    Thanks for the update.

    Question:
    1: Is this screen always going to appear?  Even when AV is disabled?  

    2: When downloading files from www.fileplanet.com I use their download manager to receive the file.  Their download manager will not work when the proxy is enabled, it just says a network error has ocured.

    If I download a file from their site without using their download manager the proxy status page attempts to display in their popup box, and it's only about 2x3 inches square.

    This is poor behavior when "scanning"  things like ISO images.  Means I can't start a download and leave.  Not to mention I have not gotten it to work with any large files.  Probably breaks command-line downloads, too.  How is this related to surf protection?

    My ASL @ home is basically just a place I can test the most current version of the software without breaking our systems at work.

    We use the ASL box to provide security ( firewall ) and content filtering ( Cobion ).  With the exception of the VERY ANNOYING addition of having your packet filter live log scroll by so fast you can't read anything, I am happy with the firewall portion.

    Unfortunately, the Cobion portion is, in our environment, a more important consideration.  And as of right now, here, it doesn't work right.  

    Please note:  I didn't say it doesn't work, just that it doesn't work ** right **.  And the little quirks it has are annoyances I don't want to deal with at work.

    Examples?  
      At home I have purchased the SMTP/HTTP AV because I have kids here, and would like to keep the smut off the screen as much as possible.  However, when we go to download a file that Astaro page pops up saying the file is being downloaded and scanned whether the AV is turned on or not.  And when it finishes, it just sits on that screen.  Never leaves.  Clicking on " Back " will either re-start the previous download or generate an error.   Try to explain that to 1,500 confused students and faculty.

    When downloading files from www.fileplanet.com , the Astaro page will display as much of itself as possible in a 2x3 inch popup window.

    At work our mailserver has builtin virus protection and all of our servers / workstatons are running Symantev AV Corporate 8.x .  We will not be using any of the ASL AV solutions, so we really don't want a page being displayed to our users saying that their file is being downloaded and scanned when that is not the case.

    ( And here, on my test system, the ASL screen pops up when the AV is active and when it's not. When it's not, I don't want to see it. )

    Question:  At home when I download a file the ASL page pops up telling me it is downloading/scanning the file.  Is this file being downloaded to the ASL box ( as opposed to passing through to the clients machine ) for scanning?  And then once it passes the scan being resent to the client?  If so, wouldn't this make the download take up to twice as long?  Wouldn't this choke a system if, say 10 or more, clients were downloading files at the same time?
