V5.004 Http Proxy errors

WHen HTTP Proxy is enabled (in transparaqnt mode and standard mode) I get 90% of the requests the following error:

ERROR
The requested URL could not be retrieved

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://www.astaro.org/ubbthreads.php?

The following error was encountered:

This cache is in the process of shutting down and can not service your request at this time. Please retry your request again soon.

Your cache administrator is webmaster.
Generated Sat, 01 May 2004 12:38:32 GMT by asl.snotware.com (squid/2.5.STABLE4) 

I think the proxy is broken or something else. Has some one the same experiences? The only way I can get connected is to disable the proxy service, I don;t think this is a proper solution also A/V is also not working proberly. is ther a fix....?

    Hi there,

    Same here.. Squid is slowly taking all available memory and manages to fill-up 768Mb (installed on my box) then goes to the swap. When the swap is full the box dies.

    I reinstalled Astaro 5.001 from scratch yesterday and I applied the patches up to 5.003 then 5.004 without great success.

    I stopped the proxy from webadmin, but thousands of Squid processes were not released. From the console I had to do a" killall squid" and the memory utilisation went back to normal (under 200Mb for my config).
    I deleted the /var/chroot-squid/cache just in case the cache was corrupted then I re-created a fresh cache folder with 755 permission and I did a "chown -R chroot:chroot cache".
    Finally I restarted the box and the cache folder was properly re-initialised.
    It does not seem to work and Squid is still jumping up and down while browsing, eating memory.

    I will try to install Squid 2.5 (same version than ASL 5.x) on one of my Solaris box to see if I can replicate the problem.
