UTM9 9.505-4 SSL VPN client disconnects when copying files from local "c" drive to remote "c" drive within a Citrix Xen Desktop (or RDP) session

Odd one this and it's driving me mad.

Remote users (win 7 32bit) connect to corporate network using SSL VPN client. They then either connect to a virtual PC using RDP or a Xen Desktop VDI PC.

This works very well, except, when they try and copy a file from their local "c" drive onto a location within the virtual PC (either using rdp or Citrix client (Xen desktop).

The RDP and Citrix clients are configured to allow access to local resource.

Some back story: Our users have scanners, which scan to a folder on their Local machine. They then want to "upload" these scanned images to their RDP/Xen Desktops. They can (within the RDP/Xen session) see the local resource, can browse to the files, select them, click "copy" then click "paste" on their desktop (within the RDP/Xen session), and then bam! the traffic through the SSL VPN stops and then VPN session disconnects.

Initially a Citrix client issue, so tried RDP, but the problem continues.

If anyone has any thoughts on this i'd appreciate their input.

Many thanks,

Steve

  • Steve,

Maybe you should look at an alternative to Citrix - there are several of them out there. Ericom, for example, has a product called AccessNow. It works using a different type of connection than RDP or Citrix (HTML5 based) and perhaps their file transfer option may work for you - they offer a 30-day trial download, which you can use to try it out and see if it works.

    Just a thought,
