Can't ping or access internal Networks

I've just setup Remote access which seems to work partially.

I can connect and login.  I can access Sophos on its gateway IP.  I can also ping it.  But I cannot access or ping anything else on the same subnet.

I have selected the "Automatic firewall rules" option in the remote setup.  Please advise.

  • Hi, Dave, and welcome to the UTM Community!

'Automatic firewall rules' uses the "Any" Service.  This includes only UDP and TCP, but no other IP protocols like ICMP.  Ping, Traceroute, etc. are regulated on the 'ICMP' tab of 'Firewall'.  You likely have 'Firewall responds to pings' selected, but not 'Firewall forwards pings'.

Have you tried to browse to a website in the LAN or RDP to one of the computers?  That should work just fine.

    Cheers - Bob

  • Thanks Bob!

It looks like things are good. I might have had a poor connection on the device yesterday but it's all coming up now when testing TCP/UDP.

    Quite happy with the setup.

Is this VPN capable of a setting that would allow me to force all VPN traffic to route outside of the gateway through the gateway?

  • I didn't fully understand your question, Dave, but it seems like a question that's not a part of the one that led you to title the thread as you did.  Please reformulate your question and start a new thread.
