Tunneled IPv4 over Site2Site IPSec over IPv6 pretty slow

I setup a Site2Site IPSec Connection over IPv6 which works no problem. I share IPv4 Networks on each side.

Traffic that is handled from one Site to the other over IPv4 is extremly slow (like 14.4k modem slow), if i only access the webadmin of the other firewall itself speed seems normal. IPv6 is only used for the IPSec Connection. (IPv4 not useable cause Carrier Grade NAT and 4x higher latency)

- is this a known bug?

- one sophos runs on a vserver (kvm), ipv6 is native (also tested with tunnelbroker, same result)

  • I didn't know that the UTM's implementation of IPsec was ready for IPv6. What does Support say about this?

  • yes, its officially suported. IPsec over IPv6 is the only VPN over IPv6 possible through the Sophos UTM. UTM 9.4 supposly will have SSL VPN over IPv6. Support says nothing because i dont have a subscription at home.

  • did some more testing and it seems that first some data flows and than "dies" off...

  • As you have posted elsewhere here, I feel that IPv6 is still in a beta phase.
