Sophos Red 10 speed slow

Hello,

i have a problem we have a ASG 220 (UTM9) and have activated the Red Services. I have added a Red15 Hardware. When i go home and start the Red15 the connection is up and ok. In Our company we have a 100mbit / 100mbit fiber chanel internet connection and in my home i have a 100 mbit / 50 mbit connection.. So here is the problem... the red have a maximum speed from 230kb/s everythin is going wrong but i dont know what. ISP is off Firewall is open for teh red ... Do you have a idea ?

  • Hello The-Eye:

In which mode is the red running? Split/Combined?
  • Hello Umpf,

the Red is running on this mode : Standard / Combines
  • In the title you say you have a RED 10, but in your first post, RED 15.  Which is correct?

A RED 10 has a Maximum throughput of 30 Mbps and a RED 15 is 90 Mbps.  These numbers are from a controlled test lab with no latency or competing traffic.  Real world performance is usually far less.

  • The Eye:

In this mode your whole traffic will be routed to the hq/utm.
I think you mean ips instead of isp, right?

Are there any webfilter-profiles for your subnet (redxx), which may slow down your internet experience or just paketfilter (no proxy)?

What is your throughput (e.g. ISO-Image) from your home-device to your fileserver in hq? Are you plugged in (rj45) or using wlan?
  • Biy ISP i mean Intrusion Prevention is not use...

Webfilter is not used for the red

the maximum speed with the red are  250 kb /s without the red 100 mbit ...

I'am plug in with RJ 45.. the red is directly connectet to a fritzbox Router.
  • Probably a speed/duplex mismatch.  Since the ports on the RED cannot be changed from auto-negotiate, you will probably need to try different settings on the router in front of the RED and/or any switch behind the RED.

  • I have the same issues: 100mbps at work site with SG Gateway, remote offer 50mbps to support connection - All traffic routed from main office. Best output on RED is 1-3mbps

Honestly its a nightmare and almost unusable.

    25min download of a 162mb file
    Windows updates take forever
And that is just the basic stuff - Network resources like access to our NAS is very slow as one would imagine with 1-3mbps.
  • If you're not using a RED, this is a totally different issue and you should start a new thread.

  • Was this in reply to my post? As I am clearly using a RED and SG210 as noted
  • Not sure what I was thinking - I guess it's a sign I shouldn't post before my first cup of coffee![;)]

If Bruce's speed/duplex advice didn't do it for you, what happens if you lower the MTU of the RED interface to 1280?
