Remote Server Connected To Network Via L2TP Over Interne Can't Ping Or RDP To That PC

Hi All,

I have a UTM at the main site running v9.309-3. I've successfully setup and connected a remote server to the UTM via L2TP VPN (no firewall appliance on the other side). So the remote server is connected to the UTM and I can see that the statis IP I've given it via the user setup is working (shows in Remote Access page). I've also confirmed that the remote server can access local resources and browse the internet via the UTM VPN connection. 

What I'd like to do is now RDP to that remote server (assumed I could because of the VPN connection) but that isn't working. Will this scenario only work via a site-to-site VPN? In other words, I know the connection works REMOTE to LOCAL but can I also establish the RDP session from LOCAL to REMOTE now that the remote server is connected via VPN?

    I will also add that I've just tested the ability to use TeamViewer for remote control of this server however only via split tunneling. I've disabled the "Use default gateway on remote server" checkbox and I can access the remote server via TeamViewer connected over internet as well as access local network resources from the remote server to local network. That's definitely not my preference though as I've like to use RDP within a fully tunneled connection with all traffic routing through my UTM.
