Monitoring SSL VPN UDP port

Hi there!

We are trying to monitor the availability of the SSL VPN that we are running over UDP port 443.

We use the Pingdom system and for UDP checks it asks for IP, port, text to send and text to expect from the server.

Do you know how what to send and what to expect from the server? I assume the UTM uses OpenVPN.

    Yes, OpenVPN is used.

    Since you're not using TCP (where a SYN should suffice), you'll need to send an actual connection initiation packet.

    I'd recommend you ask the OpenVPN folks for advice with that, or run a sniffer during the start of a connection and copy the first packet.
