no compression for pptp/L2TP?

Hello,
is there a way to enable compression for PPTP/L2TP(even if i need to hack files internally)?, it's kind of ridiculous that there isn't a config option for that and that it's not enabled by default(the only way to get compression is to install the SSL VPN client)

Mast, I'm not sure about PPTP, but I think L2TP/IPsec does do compression. I haven't seen any stats here, so I'd be interested about the difference in upload/download times between L2TP/IPsec and the SSL VPN with compression and the UDP Protocol.

Bear in mind that the SSL VPN compression is good for "compressible" files and can reduce the amount of bits sent to about 25%, but the throughput of the SSL tunnel is cut in half. The result is that zip files, for example, are much faster through a non-compressed tunnel. (Questions on the Architect-UTM V9.2 update exam. [;)])

L2TP doesn't use compression, i checked before opening the thread.

about what you say for ssl and compression, that's a terrible bug in the implementation, compression shouldn't cut BW in half as it's near impossible to know what type of traffic will flow through it so it should be general purpose.
Besides, any decent modern comp algorithm and it's implementation has to have an early abort like LZ4, even the older LZO has a length check to abort compression if result is bigger.
haven't seen UTM exams for quite a long time :/, my cert is older than the dinosaurs
