More and more devices today, especially on the Mac, rely on discovery services / broadcasts to initiate communication with one another. In some cases, like with Time Machine, you have the ability to fully qualify the Server. In most cases, however, that luxury is not always available. [:(]
After copious amounts of reading, it seems as though by implementing an OpenVPN TAP (bridging, Layer 2) as opposed to OpenVPN TUN (routing, Layer 3) Server, this can be easily accomplished. It doesn't seem as though the SSL Configuration supports it directly, however, has anyone had this requirement and perhaps been able to configure the UTM to broadcast over VPN? Maybe with Bridge Interfaces even?
