VPN Client not connecting

I have a user that installed the Sophos VPN client from the utm web interface. She is able to launch, and it prompts for authentication. I can see in the FW logs that it authenticates successfully, however, it never connects.

The "stoplight" hangs on yellow, and after a while I see an error in the windows event viewer that there is a faulting module in msvcrt.dll. I ran sfc /scannow, replaced the dll, uninstalled and reinstalled the client, and have not been able to get the client to connect.

All other users are not experiencing issues, and this is a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    I know this thread is a year old - but was there ever a solution found?

    Have just had this happen to one of my clients - and have tried all the steps as listed by timvan007

    I'll keep hunting the forums/Kb's but thought I would try my luck with this one in the meantime.

    I'm new to Sophos UTM (and firewalls generally!), but I seem to be experiencing the same problem as I do my first tests of VPN.

    From an external network, I can get to the external facing page of the Sophos, and have installed the VPN client.  It just hangs on 'connecting'.

    It's a long shot, but I thought a post here might get me some clues. 

    That said, I see the forum defaults for thread subscription are 'do not subscribe' so it's possible that no posters to this thread will see that I have posted.
