Finding out MAC Adress of PPTP CLient

Hi out there.

I have to find out the MAC Adress of a client PC that was connected via PPTP this night. The Client had a IP from a VPN IP Pool.

Is there a way to find out the MAC Adress of this client?

Thanks for your answers.

Mike

  • No, there isn't. MAC Adresses do not leave the local network, so you would have to look in the connected client's local network (which I assume you can't as you don't seem to know who was connecting [;)] ).

Just a side note: PPTP is very insecure as it is easy to crack. You should consider switching to SSL or IPSec (L2TP) VPN!
