IPSec Site-to-site drops every hour (UTM9 to Juniper ScreenOS)

Hi guys, 

Can anyone help me? [:)] New IPSec VPN connection between a UTM320 and a Juniper Netscreen 25. It works, but seems to drop for 30 seconds every hour. I have VPN monitor on but it doesn't seem to keep the connection alive.


Sophos UTM 320 – software version 9.104-17

(master of the connection, has external IP:

SA:       0.0.0.0/0=*.*.*.*                       *.*.*.*=*.*.*.0/24
VPN ID: *.*.*.*
IKE: Auth PSK / Enc 3DES_CBC / Hash HMAC_SHA1 / Lifetime 7800s / DPD
ESP: Enc 3DES_CBC / Hash HMAC_SHA1 / Lifetime 3600s )

Juniper netscreen 25 – ScreenOS 5.4.0r27.0

VPN drops every hour or so for 30 seconds. The relevant log from the UTM:

    Hi ,

    You need to enable it in both sides , juniper and the UTM, or disable it on the UTM , otherwise if will drop the connection every time that the time has reached .
    If DPD is not enable on the juniper , then when the UTM will check it then there will be no respond and the UTM will assume that the other side is dead.
