Authentication Server Over VPN

I have a site to site vpn setup and working properly.  My problem is that the Sophos box itself cannot access the vpn.  If i try to ping any hosts or add an authentication server through the vpn, it doesn't work.  My clients that are part of the allowed local networks can access the vpn just fine.  The problem is only with The Sophos box itself.  Is there anyway to tell sophos to send it's own traffic through the vpn
