Remote Access and the Blackberry Z10

To setup a VPN on my new Blackberry Z10 smartphone, I have the following choices:

Check Point Software Technologies VPN-1 (PSK,PKI)
Cisco VPN GatewayType 3000 Series (XAUTH-PSK)
Cisco Secure PIX Firewall VPN (PSK,PKI,XAUTH-PSK,XAUTH-PKI)
Cisco IOS with Easy VPN Server (XAUTH-PSK,XAUTH-PKI)
Cisco ASA (PSK,PKI,XAUTH-PSK,XAUTH-PKI)
Juniper VPN Series (PSK,PKI,XAUTH-PSK)
Juniper SA VPN Series (EAP-MSCHAPv2)
Microsoft IKEv2 VPN Server (PKI,EAP-TLS,EAP-MSCHAPv2)
Generic IKEv2 VPN Server (PSK,PKI,EAP-TLS,EAP-MSCHAPv2)

Will any of these work with the UTM? I currently have the "SSL" and the "L2TP over IPsec" options configured and working but, so far, this is stumping me?

Any help would be most appreciated!

  • This is just a guess.l since I don't have clients that use Blackberry.  I would take the Cisco pix or 3000 and download the PKCS12 from the User Portal.

Sorry for any short responses.  Posted from my iPhone.

  • So I would be setting up and using the "Cisco VPN Client" under Remote Access of the UTM?
  • That's my best guess.  Please let us know what works for you.

  • i posted an article about the VPN configuration of the Z10 with Astaro ASG V8. It is written in german.
Blackberry Z10 per VPN mit Astaro ASG V8 verbinden | Stephan Nachtsheim's Blog
  • I followed nachtsheim's instructions and was able to successfully connect to the UTM but my Z10 then automatically disconnects after about 5 seconds. Watching the "Live Log", I didn't see anything "bad" but the device will not hold the connection. I have reached out to nachtsheim and hopefully we can get this figured out. Once that is the case, if it is okay with him, I will upload an English version of his instructions for fellow Blackberry 10 users.
  • One thing I immediately noticed: His instructions mention Astaro v8 and I am using v9. Would there be anything that changed in the versions that could cause a problem?

    Anybody?

    Anyone?
  • It's fun for me to read through the German Forum since that was my first language after American.  I don't see anything there that has changed from V8 - really not even since V7, at least.

Open the IPsec Live Log, and then connect.  Show us about 40 lines that represent the connection and disconnection.

Do you have any other IPsec VPNs or IPsec/Cisco/L2TP remote access clients that work?

Also, check the Intrusion Prevention log for IPS and Anti-DoS Flooding activity.

    Cheers - Bob
