strange issue with Site-to-Site VPN and VoIP

Hi Community,

I have a strange issue with a Site-to-Site infrastructur consisting of a Astaro Security Gateway (version 8.305) and a Netgear FS-813 VPN-Router.
The VPN-connection between is these to devices is stabel until one tries to send a fax using our 3Com V3000 VoIP-system. Then the tunnel breaks down, meaning that to data of any kind may be transmitted between the two sites.
However - both the Astaro and the Netgear VPN-endpoint show the VPN-tunnel to be up and running. Only when tearing down and strarting the VPN-tunnel can the connection be established again.
I have not found any error messages in the logs of both VPN-endpoints.
Has anybody experienced a similar problem before ?

Thank you very much in advance.

Regards
Tobias

  • Tobias,

Have you resolved this?  You might try using QoS to guarantee bandwidth to IPsec traffic to the other site.

    Cheers - Bob

  • Hi,

we now put our citrix branch repeaters into operation. Somwhow compressing everyhtring that flows over the vpn-tunnel seems to solve this issue, though I don't know how.

    Regards

    Tobias
