New Sophos SSL VPN hangs on SENT CONTROL

Hello everyone,

we are having a problem after upgrading our firewall to the newest version.

After installing the newest client on the notebook it stops at "sent control" "push request". And we have only about 10 routes to add.

As i figured out, in the newest version the service should add the routes so that there is no need to run it as an local administrator.

When the service "OPENVPN Inteactive Service" runs it stops at "push request"
If the service is stopped the VPN Client (no admin rights) connects AND adds the routes.

Anyone facing the same "problems" ? I have no pain with stopping the service. I only want to know how it can work? [;)]

Have you installed the cleint with admin-rights?
Which user starts up the service "OPENVPN Inteactive Service"?

I didn't say "Run as Administrator". But as long it installs to "Program Files" i'm pretty sure that there was an UAC notice.

The service runs with "Local System". Nothin changed there except setting startup type to manual.

Because this is the only thing to do so that the connection works.

If it started it stops at "SENT CONTROL".

Today we had the same problem, with the Sophos SSL VPN Client 2.0 (Windows 7, x64)

Solution:
1. uninstall the client
2. reboot
3. download and install the latest VPN clients (as a local admin), the sophos netword card card is newly added
4. reboot again
5. after this reboot, the problem solved

Thanks. But it works with service stopped. So why change it.

I already sent this to Sophos. But no reaction yet.
