I was excited to hear about the HTML5 VPN option in v9 but after looking at it, I don't think I can use it to access a file share through it. Any thoughts?
Let me say that another way to be sure I understand what you want... You want to connect from your PC via the HTML5 and then have programs on your PC access a file share on the network behind UTM9. Right?
If (big IF since I haven't played with this much) I understand your question and the HTML5 capability correctly, this would be a feature request, and, for now, you need one of the classic Remote Access methods. The idea of the HTML5 VPN is to grant limited, specific access to people without requiring them to load or configure anything on their PC. Great for consultants and contractors.
Bob,
What I was hoping for was a way to access a file share (J: Drive) while at a meeting, giving a presentation, etc... Currently we use Outlook Web Access but you are limited in that you cannot upload a file once you have changed it.
Oh well, I'll just start installing the new VPN client onto the meeting machines.
A workaround would be accessing a local system or a Terminal Server in your network via RDP session in HTML5 portal. But the file share would be within the RDP session. No upload option from the local PC you are connecting from. Regards, Karsten
