Cannot Connect to Internet via VPN

I cannot figure out how to configure ASG 8.301 to connect my VPN traffic to the Internet.

My use case is this:  When I travel and connect to a Starbucks Wi-Fi, for example, I always want to use my VPN client on my iPhone to connect me to my home network (at home, literally) because I want to ensure the safety of my Wi-Fi traffic.  

My ASG is my DHCP server.

Ideally, I would like to have the ASG assign my iPhone, etc. an IP address just like I was at home and then provide me with Internet connectivity just like I was at home.

Sounds easy, but I am having trouble.

    Hi, JTo, and welcome to the User BB!

    I'm not sure that it's clear to me what you're wanting, but I'll try...

    The easiest solution for the iPhone is L2TP over IPsec.  Leave it in the mode where Astaro assigns addresses from "VPN Pool (L2TP)" and do not change that from the standard 10.242.3.0/24.  In no case should you have the Astaro assign VPN addresses in the same subnet as your home as that will cause routing problems, although going to the Internet should pose no problems.

    Also, if you're accessing from lots of different hotspots, it's a good idea to choose an IP subnet at home in the 172.16.0.0/12 private range.  That will avoid problems you would have if you were at a spot that used the same subnet in 192.168.x.0/24 as you use at home.
