RDP connection over SSL VPN times out

Heya, all. I've a couple of executives heading over seas for a few weeks next month. I'm in the process of testing the SSL VPN capabilities of our Astaro (v8.202).

The VPN connects without a problem and I can browse the network by name. This is good, since these guys will require access to various file stores. 

The problem, however, is we have a business application that runs via RDS. This connection works great over the LAN, but the connection times out over the VPN. 

Any ideas about what I'm missing in the configuration? Is this even possible?

    You know, I had a wierd issue like that last year -- in the end, it turned out a particular version of RDP client (this was a vista box) just did not want to work over the SSL VPN.  Updating it worked (I had to move the DLLs in my hand, etc.).  As best as I and Astaro Support could tell from the numerous TCP Dumps we did, it was the RDP client that was the issue.

    Also if it is timing out over the WAN what is the upload at the source of the rdp traffic?

    I would suggest updating to the latest version of Astaro Security Gateway, as I use SSL VPN to connect to a Terminal Service (Windows 2008 R2) with a Remote Desktop Client on Windows 7 for 8 hours a day with zero timeout issues.

    Additionally, maybe try turning off strict TCP Handling to see if it helps under Network Security >> Firewall >> Advanced if you have it enabled.
