IPSec client to be authenticated with AD Server

Hi all,

I know that SSL VPN clients connections can be authenticated with AD.

How about IPSEC clients?
As far as I know, IPSEC clients connections can only be authenticated locally and cannot be authenticated from the AD.

Is this true?
Is there anyway or method where IPSec clients credentials can be authenticated from the AD?

Added the screen shot below (attachment).

If I managed to successfully integrate with AD, the user list should be shown on the left right?
What I want to do is to add the users on the left to the allowed user box.

    I'll teach you the single most important thing about Astaro.  On any given page in WebAdmin, you can click on the blue button with a question mark in the middle.  This will bring up the in-line help about the page that you are on.

    For the page with the screenshot, you will find:
    Enable XAUTH (optional): Extended authentication should be enabled to require authentication of users against configured back-ends.


    Correct, once you add a backend AD server, you will be able to have backend authenticated groups and user accounts.  To add accounts from the list on the left to the box on the right, you drag and drop.
