IPsec not work

Hello All!
I want to understand, VPN IPSec:
If your client machine is behind a Nat device....IPsec will not work
this is true?
If so, then nothing can be done?

Hi There, I got some simulare problem,

I got this setup

Internet - modem - Astaro - Cisco ASA (VPN) - internal network

I did look at the log files and saw that it says "DROP" , what does that mean on the Astaro, is there a rule that I missed?
